Cost & Pricing

The cost of a new roof in Austin varies widely based on size, material, and complexity. A typical single-story residential asphalt shingle replacement runs $8,000–$16,000. Metal roofing runs $15,000–$35,000+. TPO flat roofs are typically $5–$9 per square foot installed. We provide free detailed written estimates before any commitment.
We offer a $200 discount for military veterans and first responders, a 5% discount for referrals who book with us, and we will beat any written competitor quote by 5% for equivalent scope and materials.
We accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and ACH bank transfers. Financing is available through our partners GreenSky® and Hearth for qualified applicants.

Installation & Timing

Most residential asphalt shingle replacements take 1–2 days. Metal roofing projects typically take 2–5 days depending on complexity. Commercial TPO projects vary from 2 days to several weeks depending on square footage. We provide a firm schedule estimate before work begins.
Our crews typically begin work between 7:00–8:00 AM and finish between 4:00–6:00 PM. We respect HOA quiet hours and can adjust start times in communities that require it.
Yes, absolutely. Most homeowners stay home without issue, though it will be noisy. If you'd prefer not to be home during tear-off day, that's perfectly fine — we handle everything securely.
We haul away 100% of old roofing material and dispose of it responsibly. Approximately 90% of asphalt shingles we remove are recycled into road base material rather than going to landfill.

Materials & Warranties

Quality architectural shingles typically last 25–30 years in Austin's climate. Proper attic ventilation and annual inspections can extend this to 35+ years. Impact-resistant shingles can last 30–40 years with proper maintenance.
The manufacturer warranty covers the roofing material itself (shingles, membrane, etc.) against defects — typically 25–50 years. Our 10-year workmanship warranty covers the installation labor — meaning if your roof leaks because of how we installed it, we repair it at no charge within 10 years of completion.
Modern metal roofing uses Galvalume® steel or aluminum with factory-applied polyester or PVDF paint coatings that prevent rust for the life of the product. Corrosion is not a concern with quality materials properly installed.

Insurance & Claims

Insurance typically covers sudden damage from storms, hail, falling trees, and similar events. It does not cover normal wear and tear or damage from lack of maintenance. We inspect your roof and help you document legitimate claims for submission to your insurer.
First, don't panic. Document any interior damage with photos. Call us for a free post-storm inspection — we'll assess whether you have a legitimate insurance claim before you contact your insurer. Acting too fast without documentation can complicate your claim.
Yes, in Texas you have the right to accept the insurance payment and use it however you choose. However, be aware that cashing out without making repairs may affect future coverage. We recommend making the repairs and can help maximize your claim settlement.

Selecting a Contractor

Verify their Texas contractor license, ask for a certificate of liability insurance naming you as additionally insured, check their Google and BBB reviews, and never pay more than 10–15% deposit upfront. S&K Roofing provides all documentation before any work begins.
Storm chasers follow disasters, do quick work, and disappear when problems arise. S&K Roofing has been in Austin since 2008 with a permanent office, local crew, and a reputation we protect every day. When your roof has a warranty issue in year 3, we're still here — storm chasers are not.
